Warm Introductions

Hi there, and welcome to the first post on my new blog!

I’m really excited to start writing and blogging on here, but before all of that happens, I just wanted to write a brief introductory post to let you know a little bit about me as well as my intentions for the direction of this blog.

A little bit about me:

I’m Miribel Tran. My name is derived from a suburb in Lyon, France that my mother was inspired by when she visited my father there. I’m currently a full-time student in my last year at Stanford University as a Gates Millennium Scholar.

After I graduate, I’ll be headed to Seattle, WA where I will be an Associate Product Manager at Hulu, working on developing voice assistants and improving your Hulu viewing experience in the living room.

I’m originally from Huntington Beach, CA, where I lived with my mother, grandmother, and 13-year-old mixed Chihuahua before I headed off to college. I’m Vietnamese and Chinese, but my extended family lives all over the world, such as Hong Kong, China, and France. If you want to learn a little bit more about my background and psychology, please feel free to read my “user manual” that I published as a Medium post!

Why did you start this blog, and where do you see it going?

I started this blog because I’m in my last year at Stanford, and I really just want to document all of my memories and reflections digitally for myself as well as anyone else who might be interested in what I have to say and my journey! I’ve been blogging on different platforms since I was 9, and I love being able to look back on it years later and see how much I’ve changed and grown. I also like to think I’m pretty much an open book, so you can expect me to be pretty honest about my life. I believe that this blog will be one of the best ways to share my life, and I’m excited to hopefully grow a community of people who are interested in the things that I care about as well as share the things I’m learning with other people.

What excites you?

I’m really excited by the process of turning opportunities and ideas into reality, and I also love meeting new people, listening to their stories, and bonding over conversations — so, I think you’ll see these fascinations integrate into every aspect of my life, including the blog!

What are you going to be blogging about?

To be honest, it’s still all up in the air at this point. Right now, I just want to write about what really interests me and those who read my posts. But to give a gist of what I think I’ll mostly be blogging about, I think my blog can be divided into 4 categories:

  • Inspiration — I like to reflect a lot on my life and write about the wisdom and lessons I’ve learned from other people, the events I’ve experienced, and the things I’ve observed, so these types of posts will reflect my inner thoughts that I hope will serve as some form of inspiration or provide a different perspective on life.

  • Lifestyle — This section of the blog will contain anything from me trying out new beauty routines, taking on new challenges to improve my health and wellness, discussing the career advice that I’ve received from those I’ve met, and so much more!

  • Adventures — I’ve been very fortunate to be able to find some time outside of school to travel and do a lot of exciting things for my work, so I want to take you guys along with me! This section will highlight some of the great adventures and exciting opportunities I’ve been on, such as attending Forbes 30U30 2018, shooting a campaign with TED & Cartier, going to Dallas, TX as a Hamilton Scholar, and much more!

  • Features — I’m actually still experimenting with this section, but one thing I want to do is feature some really amazing people that I’ve been blessed to meet and share their incredible stories and wisdom here on the blog — in perhaps a podcast or blog article format. Stay tuned!

Why should I read your blog?

Good question. My intentions for this blog is to be a place that is centered on positivity, growth, and transformation as well as provides some entertaining and relatable stories in the process. If you’re someone who likes those things, I’d like to think that you’d find some form of value from reading the content that I post. As I said, I’m very honest and real when it comes to my life, so you can expect to hear about both the good and the bad, as well as the entire process. Also, I’m often traveling to new places, trying new things, and off on my next adventure — I’d love for you to be a part of this crazy, wild journey with me.

I have some suggestions for your blog!

As the blog tagline suggests, I’m constantly finding ways to “grow and glow,” and given that this blog has just started, you can expect to see changes along the way! If you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to fill out the Suggestions form on the bottom right corner of the sidebar or the Contact page at the top — constructive feedback & comments are always encouraged!

Cheers to new adventures in 2019,
